Law enforcement is increasing patrols for New Years Eve

DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – New Year’s Eve is one day away, and law enforcement across the Lowcountry is ramping up extra patrols and traffic stops, focusing on keeping impaired drivers off the road and ensuring everyone arrives home safely.

According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, South Carolina is ranked the worst state in the nation for drunk driving. With New Year’s Eve one day away, law enforcement is increasing patrols, stating that going into 2026 with multiple ride share services, there should be no reason to get a DUI.
