Dockside board files for bankruptcy; condos remain shuttered

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Dockside Association Board of Directors has filed for bankruptcy nearly a year after residents at the waterside condominiums were ordered to vacate their units amid structural concerns.

Residents of the condos and adjacent townhomes were given little notice to evacuate due to structural issues with the building. Engineers believed the building was at risk of collapse.

Then, in June, the cost of repairs was estimated at roughly $151 million, and in the bankruptcy documents, the estimated cost to demolish the structurally unsafe portion of the building was $11 million…
