Overnight fires possibly due to New Year’s Eve fireworks: C&B Fire Department

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Last night, area firefighters responded to several fires, which fire officials believe were potentially sparked by New Year’s Eve fireworks.

Battalion Chief Charles Evans from the C & B Fire Department stated that firefighters responded to three to four structure fires and several bush and wildland fires across the Tri-County area overnight.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fires and suspect that fireworks may have ignited some of the fires that took place last night.

One fire, pictured below, was reported early this morning, before 3 a.m., in Sangaree. Chief Evans said the fire “destroyed a storage shed and damaged a private residence.” The C & B, South Berkeley, and Summerville Fire Departments, along with the Berkeley County EMS, responded to that particular fire.

At this time, no injuries have been reported…
