‘I was appalled’: Debate after Charleston County blocks release natural deaths of inmates

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday it will not release the natural deaths of inmates moving forward, sparking conversations throughout the Lowcountry if that decision lacks transparency.

The sheriff’s office said the decision is out of respect for the inmates’ loved ones and families after recent news of another inmate’s death earlier this month.
