MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) — As South Carolina officials encourage residents to embrace the new year as a fresh start for substance abuse recovery, local leaders are preparing to address an emerging drug threat in the Lowcountry.
The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities’ Office of Substance Use Services (OSUS) is urging individuals in recovery to set realistic goals and strengthen support systems in 2026.
“Recovery is built one day at a time,” said Dan Loffredo, recovery services coordinator for OSUS. “The new year is not about perfection. It is about setting realistic goals, celebrating progress, and knowing that support is always available.”…
