Charleston County seeks grant for mass fatality equipment

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — Charleston County is considering applying for a grant to purchase equipment for mass fatality events.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office was operating at 80% capacity with growing population demands on Jan. 6, 2026.

Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said the office would need to expand capabilities in the event of a major mass fatality incident.
