NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — North Charleston police arrested a 19-year-old man early Wednesday after he allegedly broke into a neighbor’s apartment and assaulted her while she was asleep, authorities said.
Officers responded to a reported burglary just before 3 a.m. in the 2200 block of Greenridge Road, according to a police report. The victim told officers she was awakened to find her neighbor, identified as Kenneth Lee Gillard Jr., inside her apartment.
The woman said Gillard inappropriately touched her after she initially mistook him for her boyfriend, police said. When she questioned why he was there, Gillard allegedly told her he had entered the apartment to ask for a tissue and said the door was unlocked…
