New high school brings hope and opportunity to Chicora neighborhood

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A long-vacant school site in North Charleston is getting new life, and community leaders say it marks the beginning of a brighter future for local students.

Work is now underway to transform the former Chicora Grade School into Cristo Rey High School, a college-preparatory school focused on creating opportunities for students from underserved communities.
