Final vote delayed on Summerville annexation

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) — A final vote on a proposed annexation in Summerville has been postponed after the developer behind the project asked for additional time to meet with community members and local officials to discuss possible changes.

The proposal would annex approximately 738 acres of land known as Creekside into the Town of Summerville. The petition, filed by Nash Nexton Holdings, would shift zoning authority from Berkeley County to the town and could allow more than 1,200 homes along Sheep Island Road, Wild Game Road, and Nexton Parkway.

Residents who spoke during public input said development in that area was originally expected to be much smaller. Several referenced an earlier development agreement that allowed roughly 447 homes, saying the increase to more than 1,200 units represents a major change in scale for a rural part of Berkeley County…
