Captain Magwood statue vandalized; community looking for answers

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – The family of the late Captain Wayne Magwood is looking for answers after they say his memorial statue was recently vandalized.

Magwood’s daughter tells News 2 she has informed Mount Pleasant police about the incident this weekend. She says someone allegedly defaced the memorial by removing the shrimp portion of the statue, which is located on the Magwood boardwalk on Shem Creek.
