Coroner identifies victim of Rivers Avenue fatal hit-and-run

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of the fatal hit-and-run collision on Rivers Avenue that occurred on New Year’s night.

Jose N. Gonzalez-Cervera, 45, of North Charleston, died at the scene of the crash from blunt force injuries, according to the Coroner’s Office.

The North Charleston Police Department responded to the scene where an unknown vehicle hit a pedestrian on Rivers Avenue near Hawthorne Drive, and arrested a man accused of the collision…
