Former Charleston Co. School District employee files federal lawsuit over alleged fund misuse

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A former Charleston County School District employee has filed a federal lawsuit accusing the district of misusing federal funds.

John Cobb, who was the executive director of federal programs before being fired in July 2024, filed the complaint against the district under the Federal False Claims Act. Recently released court documents say Cobb claims the district schemed to obtain federal funding without following proper protocols and without using the funds for their intended purposes.
