2 arrested after escaping North Charleston Police in high speed chase

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The North Charleston Police have arrested two people for allegedly leading officers on a vehicle pursuit Sunday afternoon.

Tauna Prioleau, 22, is charged with failure to stop for blue lights and reckless driving, and Jalawn Brown, 20, is charged with possession of a Schedule IV narcotic.

Officers were patrolling the Dorchester Road and Kent Avenue area when they saw a car driving slowly to avoid them. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, Prioleau, the alleged driver, drove onto Interstate 26 westbound, accelerating to a high rate of speed and driving erratically, passing several vehicles.

During the chase, she allegedly ignored the blue lights and sirens and performed several evasive maneuvers. She reached speeds of more than 125 mph before exiting the interstate onto Ashley Phosphate Road, disregarding a traffic signal at Northwoods Boulevard and continuing onto Rivers Avenue, according to jail records…
