‘We’re going to catch him’: DNA could solve Goose Creek ‘Joe the Barber’ cold case

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCSC) — Police say they now know who their suspect is in a historic Goose Creek unsolved murder case nearly four decades after a gruesome attack.

Investigators hope new DNA evidence will bring answers and closure.

It was 39 years ago, on Jan. 30, 1987, when Josephino “Joe the Barber” Bugarin was gruesomely murdered at his barbershop along St. James Avenue. The case haunted investigators for decades before turning cold … that is, until now.
