CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A family of three was displaced after a fire damaged a Charleston home on Sunday afternoon, according to the American Red Cross.
Disaster trained volunteers and assisting the family whose home, located on Parklawn Drive in Charleston was damaged in a fire. The Red cross is providing financial assistance for the immediate needs of the family, including food, clothing, and shelter, along with referrals to resources.
In light of this incident the Red Cross advises that individuals should check their smoke detectors frequently, ensuring that they are in proper working order, and replace the batteries in those alarms regularly.
