MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — An investigation involving 10 Mount Pleasant police officers accused of cheating on a state certification exam is raising new questions about training standards and could prompt closer scrutiny of certain DUI cases.
The exam at the center of the investigation involves the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy–assigned DataMaster DMT operator recertification training and test, sources said. This required course legally authorizes officers to administer breath alcohol tests during DUI arrests.
