CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston County is investigating one of its landfills after a September inspection revealed a high concentration of ammonia in the site’s outfall.
Several residents recently spoke with News 2 about a strong odor they noticed around their neighborhood. Located just hundreds of feet from the 312-acre Charleston County Landfill on Bees Ferry Road, nearby resident Michael Glick says he and his family smell it roughly once a week.
“We are the closest house to the landfill,” Glick said. “I’ve noticed the smell. It’s got an ammonia smell to it. Depending on the weather, it’s hit or miss, but it’s very noticeable.”…
