NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A convicted felon was arrested after North Charleston Police discovered a gun during a traffic stop Saturday afternoon.
Rayshawn Demetrius Mitchell, 38, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a person prohibited from possessing one; felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and possession of Schedule II narcotics, according to jail records.
An officer located a vehicle with illegal window tint at the intersection of Constitution Avenue and Ranger Drive about 4:45 p.m. The vehicle’s windows were later measured and found to be too dark for the officer to see inside.
During the traffic stop, the officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. When he asked Mitchell if he had any weapons inside the car, Mitchell initially said no. However, the officer later found a holster clipped to Mitchell’s pants in plain view…
