52-year-old charged after several-mile pursuit; cocaine residue found in car, report says

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A woman was arrested Tuesday after she fled from a traffic stop and was found to be in possession of cocaine, according to the North Charleston Police Department.

Monica McGaskin, a 52-year-old was charged with failure to stop for blue lights and possession of cocaine.

The incident report states that at approximately 5:45 p.m., an officer travelling on Dorchester road reported seeing a vehicle displaying an expired temporary tag. In response a traffic stop was initiated at Dorchester Road and Olivia Drive, however the driver, who has been identified as McGaskin, continued to drive before coming to a stop, the reports states.

As the officer prepared to address the driver, they report that the vehicle suddenly accelerated, travelling on the wrong side of the Frontage Road toward Olivia Drive…
