North Charleston considers major zoning code overhaul

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The city of North Charleston is planning to rewrite zoning codes that have not been updated since the city was founded in the 1970s.

The proposed Unified Development Ordinance would impact areas from residential neighborhoods to government buildings, according to city officials.

“We have to keep up with the time,” Mayor Reggie Burgess said. “We must move along with the time because we have a younger group of people coming up.”
