Off-duty officer charged with pointing and presenting, no longer part of department

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — A former police sergeant with the Hanahan Police Department was arrested Thursday on a charge of pointing and presenting.

Monique McCoy was booked by Summerville police at the Dorchester County Detention Center on Feb. 12. The charge stems from an incident that occurred while she was off duty, according to Hanahan Chief of Police Rick Gebhardt.

Chief Gebhardt said that his department was made aware of the incident before McCoy’s arrest and conducted its own investigation. She was terminated prior to her arrest, he added…
