VIDEO: People lifted off USS Laffey after gangway collapsed

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Around 2:45 p.m., Mount Pleasant Fire Department units were called to Patriots Point because a gangway plank leading to the USS Laffey had collapsed, leaving people stranded on the ship.

According to the Mount Pleasant Fire Department, no individuals were on the gangplank during its collapse, and no injuries have been reported.

The agency reported that approximately 30 people were stranded on the ship while fire crews extended a ladder to remove most of the people who were stuck…
