Berkeley County man charged with possessing two vehicles with altered VINs, one vehicle reported stolen

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. — A Berkeley County man has been arrested and charged after authorities say he had two vehicles with modified or missing vehicle identification numbers (VIN), one of which was previously reported stolen.

Warrants provided by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said that 52-year-old Julius Anthony Middleton is charged with two counts of possession of a vehicle with an altered vehicle identification number and one count of possession of a stolen vehicle.

The warrants allege that, in July 2023, Middleton was in possession of a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro reported stolen in Berkeley County in 2018. Authorities said the car’s VIN had been replaced with that of a 2014 Camaro to conceal it…
