Mt. Pleasant mom honors late dog with new ‘Rainbow Bridge’ for the community

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — A Mount Pleasant family’s grief over the sudden loss of their dog has turned into a new public space meant to help others mourn and remember their pets.

Candace Johnson and her three sons welcomed their dog Waffles into their family when she was 14 weeks old. Waffles quickly became a beloved part of their Mount Pleasant neighborhood.

“She was always waiting for them after school,” Johnson said. “She was my partner in raising them.”…
