Residents in Cainhoy area return home after wildfire prompts brief evacuation

CHARLESOTN, S.C. (WCBD) – Residents are back safely in their homes after a large grass fire got out of control near a populated residential neighborhood in the Cainhoy area.

The fire was called in around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Charleston Fire Department (CFD) and South Carolina Forestry were the primary responding agencies.

The fire totaled more than 900 acres and prompted recommended evacuations to 25 homes on Blind Flight Street. No injuries or property damage were reported…
