Mayor Cogswell meets HUD officials in D.C. to advance Charleston’s affordable housing push

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — City leaders in Charleston, South Carolina say addressing housing affordability is a top priority.

Mayor William Cogswell recently returned from Washington, D.C. after meeting with federal delegates to discuss Project 3,500, a proposed initiative aimed at expanding affordable housing opportunities across the city.

The meetings included updates to officials on the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the federal agency responsible for housing initiatives nationwide. Cogswell said the discussions were encouraging and represent an early step toward moving the project forward…
