NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — After an apartment fire in North Charleston, authorities discovered an illegal daycare and charged a woman with eight charges of child neglect.
The North Charleston Fire Department responded to a fire at Arbor Square Apartments on Thursday afternoon. According to a police report, the fire was already out when firefighters arrived, but they discovered eight unattended children inside the apartment and alerted police.
“When we found them, obviously, that’s not a normal situation,” said Christan Rainey, the deputy chief of the North Charleston Fire Department. “We escorted them out because there was still smoke inside the apartment.”…
