Florida authorities arrested Brenda Huggins, 56, from Charleston, South Carolina, for grand theft after scamming a Leon County woman out of thousands in a fake jury duty warrant scheme.

Scam Details

The victim got a call claiming she’d missed jury duty, triggering an arrest warrant—scammers demanded “fines” via Green Dot prepaid debit cards bought at Leon County stores. FDLE’s Economic Crime Squad launched a probe after her September 2025 report, tracing ATM withdrawals in Charleston to Huggins.
