CHARLESTON , S.C. (WCIV) — The National Parks Service is inviting the public to commemorate the 165th anniversary of the outbreak of the American Civil War right where it began.
On April 11, the Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park will operate fee-free to mark 165 years since the opening shots of the Civil War rang out in Charleston.
A variety of special programs will be on offer, including living historians in period clothing, musket firing demonstrations at 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m., park ranger presentations at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m., and hands-on interactive activities like games and crafts…
