North Charleston police arrest man after narcotics found in park vehicle search

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — North Charleston Police arrested a 61-year-old man Friday afternoon after officers found multiple narcotics in his vehicle during a search at Kapstone Park.

Officers were conducting proactive patrols around 5 p.m at the park on Remount Road following an uptick in complaints about drug and alcohol use, loitering and vandalism, according to police. While probing the parking lot, officers located a parked vehicle in a remote corner away from the park’s main areas.

Officers approached the driver, identified as Charles Wells Jr. of North Charleston and a passenger. Wells declined a request to search the vehicle, police said, prompting officers to call for the K-9 unit…
