Man sentenced in 2022 North Charleston murder

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — A judge has handed down a sentence to a man convicted of the killing of another man nearly four years ago.

Corey Arthur White, 46, was convicted of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office spokesperson Ashley Kay said.

Assistant solicitors said a victim named Koshun Hightower arrived at the Economy Inn in the early hours of May 23, 2022, and stayed for several hours in a room occupied by White. They said the room was known for high volumes of drug activity.

White left the room at 11:45 a.m., retrieved a gun, returned to the room and shot Hightower at least seven times, including four times in the back, killing him. Surveillance footage captured him retrieving the gun, re-entering the room and firing the weapon used in the murder…
