BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – A major water main break impacting thousands of residents was caused by a contractor accidentally puncturing a critical transmission line near Moncks Corner, according to an update from Santee Cooper.
The break occurred Monday evening when a contractor operating heavy equipment struck the main line connected to the Lake Moultrie Regional Water Plant. Officials said the contractor was not working on behalf of Santee Cooper.
The damaged line serves the water agencies operated by the City of Goose Creek, the City of Summerville Commissioners of Public Works, and portions of Berkeley County—serving an estimated 200,000 residents…
