Charleston man charged with forgery made vehicle purchases under false identity: report

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A man has been charged in connection to multiple forgery cases involving vehicle purchases made under a false identity, according to the North Charleston Police Department.

Shaquille Kjuan Gregory, a 36-year-old from Charleston was charged with three counts of Forgery and was served arrest warrants while being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

The report from police states that on March 4, an investigator received information from another law enforcement agency stating that Gregory had been arrested for several felony offenses in their jurisdiction. During that initial investigation, authorities reportedly discovered that he was also suspected of committing similar crimes in North Charleston, and proceeded to report it to North Charleston Police.

Gregory allegedly used the name “James Edding” to enter a contract with a local auto dealership for a 2022 Kia Optima. He reportedly used a driver’s license number belonging to another individual and forged a signature to match the false identity when signing for the vehicle …
