NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The North Charleston Police Department arrested a man after he allegedly led officers on a vehicle pursuit Saturday night.
Aaron Wayne Hickman, 51, is charged with failure to stop for a blue light, careless operation and DUI, first offense (refusal).
Officers were patrolling the area of Spruill and Reynolds Avenues Saturday night when they saw a large, dark-colored pickup truck nearly strike the front of a patrol vehicle when it illegally passed another vehicle. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop, which led to a vehicle pursuit.
The driver, Hickman, allegedly disregarded multiple stop signs and was driving at high rates of speed through residential streets in an effort to evade officers. He later turned down Spruill Avenue toward Reynolds Avenue, where the pursuit concluded at the “A” Market on Burton Lane…
