COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) — State transportation leaders and lawmakers are considering a new approach to ease growing traffic congestion in the Lowcountry, including along Interstate 526 and Interstate 26.
During Wednesday’s State of the South Carolina Department of Transportation meeting, officials outlined the concept of “choice lanes,” optional toll lanes that would allow drivers to pay to bypass traffic while keeping existing lanes free.
