MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) — Families gathered at Laurel Hill County Park as The Nature Conservancy and the Sewee Long Leaf Cooperative kicked off their annual Sewee Fest an event designed to mix hands-on fun with an important lesson on fire safety.
The family-friendly festival welcomed dozens from across the community for a day of interactive learning, all centered around the role of controlled, prescribed fires in South Carolina. From wildlife exhibits and educational booths to live demonstrations, attendees got a closer look at how science and safety work hand-in-hand to protect both people and the environment.
