First Black woman to lead a Tri-County real estate group talks about diversity

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Thousands of real estate professionals across the tri-county are part of the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors.

CTAR has been around for almost 120 years and for much of its existence, most of the leaders have been white and the majority of them have been men.

But three years ago, the group elected Katesha Breland, a black woman as its president. Breland, a broker-in-charge, has been in real estate for more than 25 years. She says the business is in her blood…
