CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The driver in an automobile versus pedestrian crash that left 78-year-old Annelise Simmons dead Thursday has been charged with failure to yield, according to local police.
Simmons was struck by a pickup truck in a designated crosswalk at the intersection of Broad Street and King Street around 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning. She was transported to MUSC, where she was later pronounced deceased. The Charleston Police Department confirmed that the driver, who has not yet been identified, faces a charge of failure to yield the right of way to pedestrians on a green light.
