Charleston County high school alumnus returning to serve as principal

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A Burke High School alumnus is coming back to lead the very school he once walked the halls of.

The Charleston County School District announced Jacob Perlmutter will take over as principal at the beginning of July.

He is currently the principal of Academic Magnet High School, which he attended back when it was located on the Burke campus.

“Jake is an exceptional leader whose experience and vision make him an outstanding choice for Burke High School,” Superintendent Anita Huggins said. “He is not only one of the most accomplished school leaders in our state, but he is also someone who personally understands the significance of this campus and this community.”…
