Lowcountry residents fighting back against 12% energy rate increase

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Dominion Energy customers could be paying more money on their bills each month, as the company is requesting a 12.7% rate increase.

Around 100 members of the public attended a public hearing for the South Carolina Public Service Commission (PSC) on Tuesday, as the PSC will decide on the proposed increase. The energy company says the region is growing rapidly, and in order to keep up with demand and keep the power on for all customers, they say these increases are needed.
