Police in North Charleston, S.C., are searching for a suspect after a woman was shot and injured while sitting inside her vehicle on Durant Avenue early Wednesday morning. Officers responded just before 1 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the area and found the woman inside a car with a gunshot wound; the vehicle’s exterior also showed damage from bullets.

The woman was taken to a hospital by EMS for treatment, but authorities have not released her condition or identity. No arrests have been made yet, and detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting and the circumstances that led to it.
