Officials urge Folly Beachgoers to watch for rip currents after drowning death

FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) — Beachgoers heading to the water this week are being urged to use extra caution as a high rip current risk remains in effect through Thursday, following a drowning death on Folly Beach.

The warning comes after a man died Sunday afternoon after being pulled from the water and brought to shore on a surfer’s surfboard, according to a witness. Officials have not said what led to the drowning.
