Traffic stop in North Charleston leads to two arrests after guns and drugs found

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Two men were arrested Monday evening after a traffic stop revealed guns and drugs, according to the North Charleston Police Department.

30-year-old Derrontae Philip Holmes, of Moncks Corner was arrested and charged possession with intent to distribute marijuana. 25-year-old Jeremiah Siayr Alston, of Charleston was also arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The report from police states that at approximately 6 p.m. an officer patrolling the Chicora/Cherokee community noticed an SUV with two occupants. Those two occupants were later identified as Holmes and Alston.

While passing them the officer noted that both men reportedly appeared nervous, avoiding eye contact and slouching in their seats. Additionally as the vehicle passed the officer reported smelling marijuana coming from inside…
