NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Officers arrested a 23-year-old man on Thursday after a traffic stop led to the discovery of an illegal machine gun in North Charleston, the report states.
The North Charleston Police Department says around 3:30 p.m., officers saw a vehicle with a window tint that appeared darker than legally allowed run a stop sign at the intersection of Bennet and Dorchester Road.
After pulling the vehicle over, officers reported smelling marijuana, called in a K-9 unit, where the dog conducted a free-air sniff and alerted to the presence of drugs, giving officers probable cause to search the car. The suspect did inform officers that there was a firearm inside the vehicle…
