Navy servicemember indicted on federal conspiracy and obtruction of justice charges

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A federal grand jury in Charleston has accused a servicemember of conspiracy to obstruct justice, federal officials announced Tuesday.

The case was presented by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina, and charges Yuan Li, 35, a Chinese national residing in the United States, with obstruction and conspiracy.

After being previously discharged from the U.S. Army, Li joined the U.S. Navy in January 2022. Li had applied for U.S. citizenship, and federal officials say he used a fraudulent address in San Francisco as his current address, leading to the investigation…
