CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – We are giving you the First Alert on as a front continues to impact our area today with the potential for rain and even some thunderstorms. Here’s what you need to know for your Saturday.
Today: Rain & storm threat continues
A shortwave trough is moving across the Deep South with a plume of moisture extending from the Gulf all the way to the Appalachians. This is fueling scattered showers and thunderstorms across our western areas this morning, with the best chance for rain and storm activity expected to expand along a boundary from late morning through the afternoon.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will expand across the area from late morning into the afternoon, especially across the upstate and mountains.
Expect highs in the low 80’s with light winds shifting from southwest to north at 5-10 mph.
By this evening, drier and more stable air will move in from the northeast, bringing an end to most rain activity. The system will push out, and conditions will improve quickly after sunset…
