Make Stuff Cost Less: Cooper pledges to tackle rising costs in Senate campaign stop in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Former governor Roy Cooper continued his “Make Stuff Cost Less” tour on Friday with a stop in Charlotte, where he outlined plans to lower costs for North Carolina families if elected to the U.S. Senate.

“Working families here in Charlotte and throughout the state are facing rising costs across the board on everything from child care to food and groceries,” Cooper said in a released statement. “We need to make stuff cost less. My opponent is a longtime Washington DC lobbyist for utility companies including Duke Energy and he’s not even opposing Duke’s latest outrageous rate hike. It’s time for a change – I’m ready to go to Washington to be an independent voice in the Senate and lower costs for North Carolina families.”

Charlotte father Matt Martin spoke about the financial strain of child care, saying he and his wife spend nearly $3,000 a month to care for their children.
