Mecklenburg County Public Health put out a rabies warning Thursday. A person and their pet came into contact with a sick coyote on June 6 in Huntersville. Both are getting treatment now.
The sick animal appeared near Monocacy Boulevard, officials said. Huntersville Police got word from the county on June 10 about the confirmed infection. The pet had received its shots.
