CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Charlotte Mayor Rob Harrington was sworn in on July 1. In his first week in office Harrington was forced to deal with pressing issues the city is facing. The top priority is neighborhood security and creating more affordable housing.
“Public safety was a prerequisite for everyone,” Charlotte Mayor Rob Harrington said. “I think we have to understand that all of our communities and all of our neighborhoods have to be safe and all of them have to feel safe. That’s across the board. And on affordable housing – part of the theme I tried to set – we need to make sure that Charlotte is as attractive and feels as welcoming for folks who have been here for generations to folks who are moving here.”
Harrington said he looks forward to working with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Estella Patterson and look for creative ways to tackle crime and housing. Harrington says he wants to be a mayor who is open, accessible, and transparent…
