CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After months of back-and-forth, Duke Energy and North Carolina officials have reached a compromise on how much rates will rise for energy customers over the next two years.
If approved by regulators, a typical Duke Energy customer could see their electric bill increase about $9.39 a month starting in 2027, followed by a $5.52 increase in 2028. That’s a total of 11.6%, down from the 18% that Duke initially proposed.
